Many states, but not all, require contractors to be licensed and/or bonded. This was the term used by major professional, trade, and consumer organizations when issuing contracts for construction work, and thus the term ‘general contractor’ fell out of use except in large organizations where the main contractor is the top manager and a general contractor shares responsibilities with professional contractors.contractor

Pursuant to Section 436B-14.5, HRS , any license held by a member of the armed forces, National Guard, or a reserve component that expires, is forfeited, or deemed delinquent while the member is on active duty and deployed during a state or national crisis shall be restored if certain restoration requirements are met.

On any construction contract that exceeds $75,000.00, the contractor’s tax (and any use tax) must either be paid before any work is begun, or the contractor must execute and file with the Mississippi State Tax Commission (the Commission”) a bond with a surety company authorized to do business in Mississippi.contractor

Interview Waived – Please note, those applicants qualifying to have the interview waived will be notified, however, the license is not issued or granted until after the Board meeting (they must vote for approval) at the same meeting months listed above.

A contractor generally has more control over their own availability to provide services eg they may make themselves unavailable on certain days of the week, or for a longer period because they’re going on holiday. Every party on site with a potential liability to the public will require an insurance policy.contractor
