That happened until the second time I saw this while I was channel surfing on Astro Byond yesterday. Home Improvement Highlight Reel: Taran’s weird and broke, Zachery has a wife and looks like a bum (without a mullet at least), JTT is still hunky, and Tim is Buzz Lightyear, Santa Clause, and still relatively awesome (on an older man scale of awesomeness).
Instead of tools, it’s sporting goods and guns and ATVs and boats, and I come home to four women,” Allen shrugged, before saying the show was exactly what he’d been looking for after a decade of being disappointed at not being offered another Home Improvement.
If you’ve been keeping up with Last Man Standing, you’ll know this isn’t the first time the half-hour comedy has nodded at Tim Allen’s sitcom past In 2013, Jonathan Taylor Thomas appeared on the show as a restaurant owner who gave one of the Baxter daughters a job.
The Tool Time theme music, an early 1960’s-style saxophone-dominated instrumental rock tune, was sometimes used as the closing theme music for Home Improvement, especially when behind the credits were running the blooper scenes that took place during the taping of a Tool Time segment.
This made the show notable in that, while it typically used the Double Standard of a better grounded wife always winding up right with the husband having to be the one to apologize regardless of who was actually at fault, it realistically showed that Tim (and by association men like him) don’t mean to be self-centered idiots, they just have trouble understanding women and really do try to be good husbands.
