From my experience, oil primers impregnate themselves into the bare drywall and wood, making for a tight bond of the top coat. Instead, drive a second nail—or better yet, drive a drywall screw—in near each popped nail to re-anchor the drywall at that spot and then tap the original nail back in place. Be sure you measure the hole that needs fixed and buy the appropriate kit for the job. Although some products claim to be a permanent repair, no other product on the market is truly made of drywall.
